Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how SnapResizer works, how your data is handled, and your rights as a user.
2. Data Privacy & Local Processing
- Client-Side Privacy: Most of our tools (Compressor, Cropper, Icon Generator, etc.) process images entirely within your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
- AI Background Removal: To provide professional-grade results, our Background Remover tool uses a secure server-side API. When using this specific tool, your image is temporarily transmitted to our processing server, processed, and immediately deleted. We do not store or use your images for any other purpose.
- No Permanent Storage: We do not store your files on our servers. Whether processed locally or via API, your data is never permanently retained by SnapResizer.
- Limited Cookie Usage: We use minimal local storage to enhance your experience (e.g., saving preferences). We also use third-party cookies for advertising purposes as described in Section 8.
3. How Image Processing Works
- For local tools, images are loaded into your browser memory and processed using WebAssembly.
- For AI Background Removal, the image is sent to a secure cloud endpoint for inference and results are returned to your browser.
- All temporary data is cleared once the browser tab is closed or the processing is complete.
4. Your Rights
- Since we do not collect any personal data, there is nothing to request, modify, or delete.
- You maintain 100% ownership of any files you upload and process.
5. Security
Because image processing happens locally on your device, your files never leave your control. However, you are responsible for keeping your device secure.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements or legal requirements. Updated versions will be posted with a new effective date.
7. Browser Storage & Local Data
To provide a seamless editing experience, SnapResizer may use browser storage technologies:
- IndexedDB: We may temporarily store your image data in your browser's IndexedDB to enable session persistence. This allows you to continue editing if you accidentally close the browser tab. This data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
- LocalStorage: We may store preferences and settings (like your preferred image quality settings) in your browser's localStorage. This data is minimal and only used to improve your user experience.
- Session Storage: Temporary session data may be stored to maintain your editing state during your browser session. This data is automatically cleared when you close your browser.
- You Can Clear This Data: You can clear all stored data at any time by clearing your browser's cache and storage through your browser settings. This will not affect your ability to use the service.
8. Third-Party Services & Analytics
SnapResizer is designed with privacy as a core principle:
- No Analytics Tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking services. Your browsing behavior is not monitored or analyzed.
- Advertising & Cookies: We use Google AdSense to display ads on our website. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- Third-Party AI API: As disclosed in Section 2, the Background Remover tool uses a third-party AI API for processing. We ensure that your images are transmitted securely via HTTPS and are deleted immediately after processing.
9. GDPR & International Privacy Rights
SnapResizer complies with international privacy regulations including GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation):
- Right to Access: Since we don't collect personal data, there's no data to access. However, you can always contact us if you have questions about how your data is handled.
- Right to Deletion: Since your images are never uploaded to our servers, there's no data stored on our end to delete. Any local browser storage can be cleared through your browser settings.
- Right to Data Portability: You maintain full control of your images. You can download processed images at any time, and they remain on your device.
- Right to Object: Since we don't process personal data for marketing or analytics purposes, there's no processing to object to.
- Data Protection Officer: For privacy inquiries, you can contact us at snapresizer@gmail.com.
10. Children's Privacy
SnapResizer is designed to be safe for users of all ages. Since we don't collect personal information or require registration, children can use our service safely. However, we recommend that children under 13 use the service with parental supervision, especially when processing images.
11. Technical Privacy Details
How Client-Side Processing Works
When you use SnapResizer, here's exactly what happens from a technical perspective:
- Image Loading: For local tools, your image file is read directly into your browser's memory using the FileReader API.
- Processing: Image manipulation (cropping, resizing, compression) uses WebAssembly (Wasm) code that runs entirely in your browser.
- AI Background Removal: This specific tool sends the image to our secure API server. The image is processed in volatile memory and deleted immediately after the response is sent back to you.
- Download: Processed images are returned to your browser and saved directly to your device.
- Cleanup: After processing, image data is cleared from memory. No traces remain on our servers.
